No, the connection to the power grid remains as is, however the grid is used as little as possible. Moreover, in the event of a power outage, your installation will continue to operate as usual as long as a storage system is added.

Those who have an active electricity connection and legally available space (flat-roof, tile roof, pergola, free space on the plot) can install a Photovoltaic System and place it either in detached houses or in apartment buildings. This space must be owned or legally used by you. If you want to install such a system in an apartment building, then you must have exclusive use of the roof or part of it with the written consent of the other owners. If more than one apartment owner wants to install a Photovoltaic System, then standalone systems can be installed on the shared roof, as long as there is a unanimous consent by all owners of the apartment building.

The basic terms and conditions for the installation of Photovoltaic Systems for self-production with Net Metering are as follows:

- The existence of an active and permanent power supply in the name of the self-producer where the Photovoltaic System will be installed.

- The Photovoltaic System is assigned exclusively to a consumption meter, i.e. to the meter of the consumption installation it supplies.

- The Photovoltaic System is installed in the same or adjacent space as the consumption installation to which it is assigned (it is not permitted to set off with consumptions of the same natural or legal person in other installation locations, with the exception of the categories of self-producers for which the virtual Net Metering applies). It is also possible to install the system in an area remote from the electrical installation as long as it is electrically connected with a dedicated interconnection line (Article 59 of Law 4843/2021 (Government Gazette 193 A' 2021), which will form part of the internal electrical installation.

- The interested party is lawfully entitled to use the system installation space.

- The interested party has fully paid the electricity bills of the relevant Supplier (or has joined a debt settlement scheme).

- The connection of the self-producer has not been included in the Environmental Household Tariff (Ministerial Decision No YPEN/YPRG/26359/4101 - Government Gazette B' 1936/30.5.2018). In the event that the interested party is entitled to be included in this tariff, he/she shall be automatically excluded from it, upon activation of the production system.

For the sizing of the Photovoltaic System, it is advisable to take into account the annual consumption of the installation to which it will be connected. Since the Net Metering is carried out on a three-year basis and any energy surplus after the three-year net metering is not compensated, the annual energy produced by the Photovoltaic System should not exceed the total annual consumption.

After the signing of the Connection Agreement, an application is submitted by the self-producer to the Electricity Supplier, with whom he/she has entered into a Supply Agreement as a consumer, for the signing of a Netting Agreement. The process is completed within 15 days, from the date of receipt of the request. The effective date of the Net Metering Agreement is the activation date of the Photovoltaic System connection.

The Net Metering Agreement signed between the Supplier and the self-producer has a validity period of 25 years, starting from the date of activation of the connection of the Photovoltaic System.

No, in Net Metering each production facility is assigned exclusively to a consumption meter, i.e. to a supply number. Matching with several consumption meters is only possible in the context of virtual net metering.

If the connection is in the name of the usufructuary, the usufructuary without the consent of the bare owner. If it is in the name of the bare owner, the bare owner with the consent of the usufructuary. In cases of co-ownership, the owner in whose name the connection is with the written agreement of the co-owners.

We install a photovoltaic plant that produces energy, which is exclusively matched with a consumption meter and supplies the connected building. The generated energy that we do not use (surplus) is injected into the Provider's network, while, if the generated energy is not sufficient to cover our consumption, we absorb energy from the Provider's network. The count of all three amounts of energy, produced, injected and absorbed, is recorded by two different meters.

If the energy we produce is more than our consumption, then the surplus is stored in the Supplier and we can consume it in the future.

The net metering performed on our clearing bills involves energy. The amount of injected and absorbed energy is counted. If the count shows that the absorbed quantity is greater than the injected quantity, then we pay the Provider the difference.

If the count shows that the injected quantity is greater than the one absorbed, then the surplus is transferred (credited) to our next clearing bill and we can consume it whenever we have a consumption greater than the production (days without sunshine or at night when we do not produce energy).

The surplus energy is carried over to each clearing bill for a total of three years and can be used anytime within that time when the production will be less than consumption and this is repeated every three years until the end of the contract.

After the end of the three-year period, any excess energy is not transferred to the next bill, nor is there any obligation for any compensation to the Self-producer for this energy.

That is why it is useful to install a Photovoltaic System that can produce approximately as much energy as we consume on an annual basis or a little less, being also able, in the event that our energy needs increase in the future, to increase the power of our facility.
